Have you ever considered what regret sounds like after death? In Luke 16:27-31, Jesus delivers one of Scripture's most sobering warnings through the parable of the rich man and Lazarus. This episode dives deep into this passage where we witness a chilling reality: a man who ignored God during life suddenly becomes desperately evangelistic after death—when it's eternally too late.

We're living in days where eternity feels distant. Our culture drowns in distractions, from endless scrolling to binge-watching, creating generations more concerned with screen time reports than their eternal destination. The delusion of delay has become Satan's masterful weapon. If he can't make you reject God outright, he'll convince you to postpone Him until tomorrow—a tomorrow that's never guaranteed.

What's particularly striking about Jesus' teaching is His emphasis on Scripture's sufficiency. When the rich man begs for a supernatural sign to convince his brothers, Abraham's response is direct: "If they won't listen to Moses and the prophets, they won't listen even if someone rises from the dead." This prophetic statement foreshadowed how many would reject Jesus despite His resurrection. Today, people trust AI over Scripture, read horoscopes before opening their Bibles, and chase emotional experiences while neglecting God's written Word. In these end times, miracles don't convert hard hearts—only the Word of God, believed and received, brings salvation.

This message carries urgent weight for believers and unbelievers alike. The door of grace remains open today, but Scripture warns repeatedly about its eventual closing. Are you building your life on the steady rock of God's Word or on shifting sands of signs, feelings, and experiences? Are you ready for eternity, or are you gambling with forever? Listen now and share this truth while there's still time—because once eternity begins, the opportunity for choice ends.

00:00:00.541 --> 00:00:06.272
Welcome to Renewed Mindsets, where we dig into God's Word with urgency for the days we're living in.

00:00:06.272 --> 00:00:15.054
Today we're looking at Luke, chapter 16, where Jesus warns that once eternity begins, it's too late to repent.

00:00:15.054 --> 00:00:22.211
This message will challenge you to live ready, stay faithful and hold fast the truth.

00:00:22.211 --> 00:00:23.914
In these end times.

00:00:23.914 --> 00:00:25.885
Let's go, boys.

00:00:25.885 --> 00:00:38.451
Hey, welcome back to Renewed Mindsets.

00:00:38.451 --> 00:00:40.747
I'm Rick and I'm so glad you're here.

00:00:41.640 --> 00:00:50.406
Today we're focusing on one of the heaviest passages in the entire New Testament Luke, chapter 16, verses 27 through 31.

00:00:50.406 --> 00:01:13.272
It's the conclusion of the parable of the rich man and Lazarus, and it's devastating because in these verses, Jesus shows us what eternity looks like for the unrepentant, he shows us what regret sounds like in hell and he shows us the sufficiency of God's word, even when people demand signs.

00:01:13.272 --> 00:01:16.950
And here's why this matters for us in the end times.

00:01:16.950 --> 00:01:25.828
We're living in a generation that craves signs, feelings and experiences but ignores the word of God.

00:01:25.828 --> 00:01:34.228
A generation drowning in distraction, lulled to sleep by entertainment and convinced that tomorrow is guaranteed.

00:01:34.228 --> 00:01:37.649
But Jesus' words cut through the noise.

00:01:37.649 --> 00:01:45.170
They remind us tomorrow is not promised and once eternity begins, it's too late.

00:01:45.170 --> 00:01:47.466
So let's read together.

00:01:47.466 --> 00:01:59.549
Then the rich man said Please, Father Abraham, at least send him to my father's house, for I have five brothers and I want him to warn them so that they don't end up in this place of torment.

00:01:59.549 --> 00:02:04.048
But Abraham said Moses and the prophets have warned them.

00:02:04.048 --> 00:02:06.728
Your brothers can read what they wrote.

00:02:06.728 --> 00:02:15.008
The rich man replied no, Father Abraham, but if someone is sent to them from the dead, then they will repent for their sins and turn to God.

00:02:15.008 --> 00:02:22.870
But Abraham said If they won't listen to Moses and the prophets, they won't listen even if someone rises from the dead.

00:02:23.780 --> 00:02:34.211
That's Luke, chapter 16, verses 27 through 31 from the New Living Translation, and it's sobering and it's unavoidable and it's truth.

00:02:34.211 --> 00:02:45.506
The rich man who had everything in life suddenly finds himself in torment and notice in eternity.

00:02:45.506 --> 00:02:54.566
He finally gets concerned for others, he becomes evangelistic, he pleads for his brothers, but it's too late.

00:02:54.566 --> 00:03:03.552
There's a chilling irony here People who never cared about eternity and life suddenly care once they step into it.

00:03:03.552 --> 00:03:06.989
But the moment of choice is gone.

00:03:06.989 --> 00:03:13.911
Hebrews 9.27 says Each person is destined to die once, and after that comes judgment.

00:03:13.911 --> 00:03:22.433
And listeners, friends, family here's the end times connection.

00:03:23.820 --> 00:03:30.991
Our culture thinks that death is distant, that life's a game and we have endless tomorrows.

00:03:30.991 --> 00:03:34.711
But the suddenness is the theme of judgment.

00:03:34.711 --> 00:03:47.788
Whether it was the flood in Noah's days, the fire in Lot's day or the trumpet in the days to come, modern culture distracts us from eternity.

00:03:47.788 --> 00:03:49.191
Think about it.

00:03:49.191 --> 00:03:52.609
Your phone you got endless scrolling.

00:03:52.609 --> 00:03:58.127
You got binge watching on Netflix, digital worlds that we live in.

00:03:58.127 --> 00:04:04.787
We're a generation that spends more time worrying about their screen time report than their eternity report.

00:04:04.787 --> 00:04:10.340
It's a generation that spends more time worrying about their screen time report than their eternity report.

00:04:12.441 --> 00:04:14.443
Who in your life needs to hear the gospel while there's still time?

00:04:14.443 --> 00:04:16.367
Abraham's answer is sharp, though.

00:04:16.367 --> 00:04:19.610
Moses and the prophets have warned them.

00:04:19.610 --> 00:04:21.574
Your brothers can read what they wrote.

00:04:21.574 --> 00:04:27.524
In other words, the word of God is enough.

00:04:27.543 --> 00:04:35.165
We live in a time when people are saying if God would just give me a sign, I'd believe, but scripture says otherwise.

00:04:35.165 --> 00:04:45.451
The Pharisees saw Jesus perform miracles every day and they still demanded another sign, and when he rose from the dead, they didn't believe anyway.

00:04:45.451 --> 00:04:47.983
Today, it's the same.

00:04:47.983 --> 00:04:52.252
People chase the supernatural, but they ignore the word.

00:04:52.252 --> 00:05:06.209
They consult psychics, they read horoscopes, they trust AI predictions and believe the conspiracy YouTubers, but they dismiss the Bible as outdated.

00:05:06.209 --> 00:05:20.749
Even in the church, people are craving emotional highs, goosebumps, smoke machines, but they neglect the written word that's been preserved for centuries Roman 10, 7.

00:05:20.749 --> 00:05:23.173
So faith comes from hearing.

00:05:23.173 --> 00:05:28.004
9107, so faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the good news about Christ.

00:05:28.004 --> 00:05:34.884
Faith is not born from fireworks, it's born from Scripture.

00:05:34.884 --> 00:05:45.543
Are you building a life on the steady rock of God's Word or on signs, feelings and experiences?

00:05:45.543 --> 00:06:02.360
The rich man begged Abraham for one more chance for his brothers to see something supernatural so that they would repent, but Abraham said no.

00:06:02.360 --> 00:06:03.346
Now this is where many people live today.

00:06:03.346 --> 00:06:04.956
They live in the delusion that God will always give them one more chance.

00:06:04.956 --> 00:06:05.480
I'll repent tomorrow.

00:06:05.480 --> 00:06:07.947
I'll get serious about God when I'm older.

00:06:07.947 --> 00:06:14.735
I'll start following him after I've lived a little, but tomorrow it's not guaranteed.

00:06:16.101 --> 00:06:18.810
And delay is disobedience.

00:06:18.810 --> 00:06:21.026
Think of our culture.

00:06:21.026 --> 00:06:24.048
Death is treated as entertainment.

00:06:24.048 --> 00:06:27.430
We watch movies, play video games.

00:06:27.430 --> 00:06:31.451
We scroll past real war and violence like it's background noise.

00:06:31.451 --> 00:06:36.591
Death seems distant, but it's not.

00:06:36.591 --> 00:06:48.870
Every day, thousands of people enter eternity, and most of them without Christ, In other words, most of them in hell.

00:06:50.600 --> 00:06:56.971
Hebrews 3.15 says Today, when you hear his voice, don't harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled.

00:06:56.971 --> 00:07:02.451
The delusion of delay is one of Satan's greatest weapons.

00:07:02.451 --> 00:07:08.007
If he can't get you to reject God outright, he'll convince you to postpone him?

00:07:08.007 --> 00:07:12.050
Are you living with a false sense of tomorrow?

00:07:12.050 --> 00:07:22.702
Jesus closes this parable by saying if they won't listen to Moses and the prophets, they won't listen, even if, and the prophets, they won't listen, even if somebody rises from the dead.

00:07:22.702 --> 00:07:36.449
Now that is prophetic, because in just a short time, Jesus himself would rise from the dead and the religious elite, the very ones who demanded a sign, still refused to refuse to believe.

00:07:36.449 --> 00:07:42.336
This exposes a terrifying truth about the end times.

00:07:42.336 --> 00:07:50.208
Miracles don't convert hard hearts, yeah, Signs don't transform rebellion.

00:07:50.208 --> 00:07:57.002
Only the word of God, believed and received, brings salvation.

00:07:57.002 --> 00:08:01.692
And Revelation shows us what happens when people reject that word.

00:08:02.701 --> 00:08:12.826
Even as God's judgments fall, plagues and earthquakes and fire, people shake their fists at heaven and curse God instead of repenting.

00:08:12.826 --> 00:08:15.733
This is our world now.

00:08:15.733 --> 00:08:21.648
We've seen miracles of medicine, technology, protection.

00:08:21.648 --> 00:08:31.189
We've watched Israel restored as a nation, prophecy fulfilled before our eyes, and still the world mocks.

00:08:31.189 --> 00:08:33.774
They mock God.

00:08:33.774 --> 00:08:35.581
Think about it.

00:08:35.581 --> 00:08:39.692
Now People trust the voice of AI over the voice of Scripture.

00:08:39.692 --> 00:08:43.923
It now People trust the voice of AI over the voice of scripture.

00:08:43.923 --> 00:08:45.466
They'll read their horoscope before they open their Bible.

00:08:45.466 --> 00:08:51.342
They'll repost spiritual quotes from Instagram, but reject the red letters of Jesus Christ.

00:08:53.306 --> 00:08:58.174
Paul warns us in 2 Thessalonians 2, verses 10 and 11,.

00:08:58.174 --> 00:09:02.932
They perish because they refuse to love the truth and so be saved.

00:09:02.932 --> 00:09:07.971
So God will cause them to be greatly deceived and they will believe these lies.

00:09:07.971 --> 00:09:13.009
This is the hour that we're in people.

00:09:13.009 --> 00:09:17.580
Truth is available, but people are choosing deception.

00:09:17.580 --> 00:09:20.246
But people are choosing deception.

00:09:20.246 --> 00:09:28.403
Are you clinging to the truth or are you drifting with the lies of today?

00:09:28.423 --> 00:09:38.596
The warning of Luke 16, 27 through 31 is this Once eternity begins, there's no second chances.

00:09:38.596 --> 00:09:45.761
The cries of the lost come too late.

00:09:45.761 --> 00:09:54.403
The promise is this right now, the word of God is still speaking, the spirit of God is still drawing and the door of grace is still open.

00:09:54.403 --> 00:10:03.676
John 5, 24 says I tell you the truth those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me, have eternal life.

00:10:03.676 --> 00:10:09.432
They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death to life.

00:10:09.432 --> 00:10:20.653
Right now you can cross over from death to life, but don't wait, Don't play games, Don't assume you have another tomorrow.

00:10:20.653 --> 00:10:27.633
So what does this passage teach us for the end times?

00:10:27.633 --> 00:10:32.730
Well, the cries of the lost come too late.

00:10:32.730 --> 00:10:36.249
The word of God is enough.

00:10:36.249 --> 00:10:41.106
The delusion of delay is deadly.

00:10:41.106 --> 00:10:49.403
And in the last days, the days that we're living in, only those who love the truth will be saved.

00:10:50.943 --> 00:10:54.989
This isn't just theology, Hear me.

00:10:54.989 --> 00:10:57.030
This is urgency.

00:10:57.030 --> 00:11:03.096
If you've been drifting, you need to repent right now.

00:11:03.096 --> 00:11:07.030
If you've been delaying surrender, right now.

00:11:07.030 --> 00:11:13.653
If you've been chasing signs, fall in love with God's word right now.

00:11:15.481 --> 00:11:25.754
Luke 12, 35 and 36 says Be dressed for service and keep your lamps burning, as though you were waiting for your master to return from the wedding feast.

00:11:25.754 --> 00:11:31.533
Then you will be ready to open the door and let him in the moment he arrives and knocks.

00:11:31.533 --> 00:11:38.783
Stay dressed, Stay burning, Stay ready.

00:11:38.783 --> 00:11:41.431
Pray with me.

00:11:41.431 --> 00:11:45.850
Father, God, we hear your warning in this passage.

00:11:45.850 --> 00:11:48.508
We feel the weight of eternity.

00:11:48.508 --> 00:11:57.990
Forgive us for delay, Forgive us for distraction, Forgive us for chasing signs and neglecting your word.

00:11:57.990 --> 00:12:01.914
Today we choose to repent.

00:12:01.914 --> 00:12:02.798
Today we choose to repent.

00:12:02.798 --> 00:12:05.168
Today we choose to love the truth.

00:12:05.168 --> 00:12:11.393
Today we ask you to use us as messengers before the door of grace closes.

00:12:11.393 --> 00:12:18.393
Strengthen us to live urgent, holy, uncompromised lives in these end times.

00:12:18.393 --> 00:12:22.870
We ask this in Jesus' mighty name, Amen.

00:12:28.543 --> 00:12:31.149
So I got a confession to make here about this episode.

00:12:31.149 --> 00:12:34.019
I have been bogged down at work.

00:12:34.019 --> 00:12:36.005
You know what?

00:12:36.005 --> 00:12:47.480
I got a million excuses on why there hasn't been a new episode in the last couple weeks, and they all are worthless.

00:12:47.480 --> 00:12:51.028
They're worthless excuses.

00:12:51.028 --> 00:13:06.706
I want to thank Kimmy for encouraging me with tough love today to listen to God, to listen to his voice, so that I could prepare this message for this week.

00:13:06.706 --> 00:13:27.142
I've been putting it off because the world was making so many demands on my time, but her words reminded me that obedience to God can't wait and that the message that he gives us has to come before everything else.

00:13:27.142 --> 00:13:35.131
So for that challenge and that encouragement, Kimmy, I am truly grateful.

00:13:42.096 --> 00:13:45.846
The executive producer of Renewed Mindsets is Christy McCurry.

00:13:45.846 --> 00:13:54.235

00:13:54.235 --> 00:13:56.581
The time to wake up is now.

00:13:56.581 --> 00:14:01.140
If today's episode challenged you, don't keep it to yourself.

00:14:01.140 --> 00:14:02.357
Tell someone.

00:14:02.357 --> 00:14:02.918
Please.
