What happens when everything you've depended on vanishes overnight? When your security, plans, and comfort suddenly disappear? In this thought-provoking exploration of Mark 5, we step into unfamiliar territory by examining the biblical account of demon possession and deliverance from the perspective of the pig owner—the unnamed person who lost their entire livelihood when Jesus permitted demons to enter their herd.

The story takes on profound significance for believers navigating these increasingly turbulent times. As we witness Jesus prioritizing one tormented soul's freedom over economic security, we're confronted with uncomfortable questions about our own attachments. What are your "pigs"? What earthly treasures, relationships, or comforts are you holding so tightly that losing them might shake your faith to its core?

This episode dives deep into the spiritual preparation necessary for the massive disruptions coming in these last days. When entire systems crumble, when standing for truth costs relationships, when financial security evaporates—only those whose faith is rooted in Christ rather than comfort will remain standing. The townspeople who witnessed an extraordinary miracle begged Jesus to leave because His presence threatened their stability. How often do we do the same, preferring predictable comfort over divine disruption?

The enemy wants you to believe that God is against you when things fall apart, that following Jesus costs too much. But the truth remains: Jesus is worth more than anything He could ever ask you to release. The shaking isn't punishment—it's preparation. Don't miss this crucial message about holding loosely to temporal things while clinging tightly to the eternal. Share this episode with someone who needs to hear that standing firm is possible, even when everything else disappears.

00:00:00.882 --> 00:00:03.750
The world is changing and time is running out.

00:00:03.750 --> 00:00:12.390
This is Renewed Mindsets, where we confront Biblical truth head-on no sugarcoating, no compromise.

00:00:12.390 --> 00:00:28.702
We expose false doctrine, reveal fulfilled prophecy and shine light on the demonic deception of these last days, but we also stand firm on the hope of Christ's return, the call to holiness and the urgency of true salvation.

00:00:28.702 --> 00:00:34.506
It's time to renew your mind, for the time is now.

00:00:34.506 --> 00:00:37.107
Let's go, boys.

00:00:37.107 --> 00:00:47.935
Hey, welcome to Renewed Mindsets.

00:00:47.935 --> 00:00:50.557
I'm Rick and I'm so glad you're here.

00:00:50.557 --> 00:00:56.220
Today.

00:00:56.220 --> 00:00:59.014
We're going to talk about something that came to me out of nowhere.

00:00:59.014 --> 00:01:09.993
It's a story that most of us have heard, but I started thinking about it from a different angle and I thought maybe this could be the first time anybody's preached from this perspective.

00:01:09.993 --> 00:01:15.167
So stick with me, let's move on.

00:01:15.167 --> 00:01:24.471
So have you ever had something that you depended on disappear overnight?

00:01:24.471 --> 00:01:27.599
So have you ever had something that you depended on disappear overnight?

00:01:27.599 --> 00:01:40.676
Whether it's a job or a relationship, an investment, your security, it can shake you to your core and if you're not careful, it can make you question God.

00:01:40.676 --> 00:01:49.667
Now this is what we see in Mark, chapter 5, when Jesus casts out a legion of demons and allows them to enter a herd of pigs.

00:01:49.667 --> 00:01:50.930
2,000 pigs run off a cliff and drown.

00:01:50.930 --> 00:02:04.376
Now we often focus on the man who is delivered, but today I want us to step in the shoes of the swine owner, because there's a powerful lesson for us in the end times.

00:02:04.376 --> 00:02:17.531
We'll start off with scripture from Mark, chapter 5, verses 11 through 14, and I'll be reading from the New Living Translation A large herd of pigs was feeding on the nearby hillside.

00:02:17.531 --> 00:02:20.221
Send us into the pigs.

00:02:20.221 --> 00:02:21.401
The spirits begged.

00:02:21.401 --> 00:02:23.923
Jesus gave them permission.

00:02:23.923 --> 00:02:26.125
The evil spirits came out.

00:02:26.125 --> 00:02:29.606
So let's look at it from the owner's perspective.

00:02:29.606 --> 00:02:52.326
Put yourself in the shoes of the man who owned those pigs.

00:02:52.326 --> 00:02:55.360
Those pigs weren't just animals to him.

00:02:55.360 --> 00:03:01.131
They represented his income, his stability, his plans for the future.

00:03:01.131 --> 00:03:04.243
Now, maybe he'd been breeding them for years.

00:03:04.243 --> 00:03:08.862
Maybe he had calculated how much profit he'd make at the next market.

00:03:08.862 --> 00:03:17.461
Then Jesus shows up, speaks one word and your herd of pigs is gone in a matter of minutes.

00:03:18.643 --> 00:03:23.008
You stand there in shock, watching your entire livelihood vanish off a cliff.

00:03:23.008 --> 00:03:30.417
Now can you imagine the anger, the fear, the thoughts running through your head?

00:03:30.417 --> 00:03:32.086
What am I going to do now?

00:03:32.086 --> 00:03:34.604
Why would God do this?

00:03:34.604 --> 00:03:36.110
Why would he allow it?

00:03:36.110 --> 00:03:38.007
Does he even care about me?

00:03:38.007 --> 00:03:44.173
Now, that's how many of us would react if God allowed the things we depend on to be stripped away.

00:03:46.042 --> 00:03:48.028
So here is the truth we have to face.

00:03:48.028 --> 00:03:57.645
Jesus values one tormented soul more than he values your comfort or your bank account or your plans.

00:03:57.645 --> 00:04:07.072
He will disrupt your economy, your routines, even your sense of security, if it means rescuing someone bound by darkness.

00:04:07.072 --> 00:04:24.206
And in the end times we're going to see disruption on a scale that we've never experienced before Full economies collapsing, freedoms being stripped away, the comforts that we take for granted shaken to the core.

00:04:24.206 --> 00:04:30.648
And if your faith is rooted in your comfort, you will not stand when the shaking comes.

00:04:30.648 --> 00:04:42.387
Think about how easily we're rattled when we lose something small A job change, an unexpected bill, a setback in our plans.

00:04:42.387 --> 00:04:46.485
Now imagine entire systems crumbling.

00:04:46.485 --> 00:04:51.987
Imagine waking up and finding that your savings account is gone because of a banking failure.

00:04:51.987 --> 00:04:56.425
Imagine losing your job because you refuse to compromise your faith.

00:04:56.425 --> 00:05:01.786
Imagine friendships breaking because you don't bow to the culture's idols.

00:05:01.786 --> 00:05:07.660
This is not fear-mongering, people, this is reality.

00:05:07.660 --> 00:05:14.148
Jesus warned us that in the last days, everything that can be shaken will be shaken.

00:05:14.148 --> 00:05:17.483
That's Hebrews chapter 12, 26 and 27.

00:05:17.483 --> 00:05:19.862
He told us to be ready.

00:05:21.314 --> 00:05:26.908
Now, getting back to the scripture, when the people of that region saw what happened.

00:05:26.908 --> 00:05:29.783
They begged Jesus to leave.

00:05:29.783 --> 00:05:33.343
They valued their pigs more than his presence.

00:05:33.343 --> 00:05:38.105
Then the people began to plead with Jesus to go away and leave them alone.

00:05:38.105 --> 00:05:40.761
That's Mark, chapter 5, verse 17.

00:05:40.761 --> 00:05:42.605
Think about that.

00:05:42.605 --> 00:05:48.795
They had just witnessed the power of God deliver a man who'd been possessed by thousands of demons.

00:05:48.795 --> 00:05:52.944
But instead of rejoicing, they asked him to leave.

00:05:52.944 --> 00:05:54.447
Why?

00:05:54.447 --> 00:05:58.685
Because his presence disrupted their comfort.

00:06:00.216 --> 00:06:01.221
We do the same thing.

00:06:01.221 --> 00:06:10.062
We cry out for God to move, but when he shakes things up, we panic, we complain, we question his goodness.

00:06:10.062 --> 00:06:17.738
So right now, I want to ask you to ask yourself what are my pigs?

00:06:17.738 --> 00:06:24.857
What am I holding on to so tightly that I would be tempted to resent God if he asked me to release it?

00:06:24.857 --> 00:06:32.692
It could be a relationship, a career, a reputation, a A dream you've been chasing.

00:06:32.692 --> 00:06:37.615
Even good things can become idols if they matter more to you than Jesus.

00:06:37.615 --> 00:06:49.357
And if you're not willing to let go, you're going to end up like the people who begged Jesus to leave, and the cost of that is far greater than the loss of any earthly security.

00:06:50.846 --> 00:06:54.654
The enemy will use loss and disruption to try to shake your faith.

00:06:54.654 --> 00:06:55.598
In these last days.

00:06:55.598 --> 00:06:58.266
He's going to whisper.

00:06:58.266 --> 00:07:01.271
See, following Jesus costs too much.

00:07:01.271 --> 00:07:03.795
He takes more than he gives.

00:07:03.795 --> 00:07:06.060
But that's a lie.

00:07:06.060 --> 00:07:11.550
Jesus himself said if you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it.

00:07:11.550 --> 00:07:13.773
God is against you when things fall apart.

00:07:13.773 --> 00:07:27.196
He wants you to believe that the pigs matter more than the presence of God.

00:07:27.196 --> 00:07:33.978
But the truth is Jesus is worth more than anything he could ever ask you to release.

00:07:33.978 --> 00:07:42.254
He's worth more than your job, your finances, your security and even the plans you have made for your life.

00:07:42.254 --> 00:07:53.550
When you understand that you won't crumble when things are stripped away, you'll recognize that the shaking is not punishment, it's preparation.

00:07:53.550 --> 00:07:58.725
God is preparing his church to stand in the midst of chaos.

00:08:00.209 --> 00:08:05.259
So we need to ask ourselves now what would it take for me to walk away from Jesus?

00:08:05.259 --> 00:08:07.307
It's a horrible question.

00:08:07.307 --> 00:08:10.211
Would losing your comfort do it?

00:08:10.211 --> 00:08:12.875
Would losing your savings account?

00:08:12.875 --> 00:08:20.608
What about losing relationships, a wife, a husband?

00:08:20.608 --> 00:08:32.464
In these end times, there's going to be pressure like we've never experienced before, and only those who are rooted in Christ will stand.

00:08:32.464 --> 00:08:38.931
So we must listen carefully to the truth we've heard, or we may drift away from it.

00:08:38.931 --> 00:08:39.392
That's Hebrews 2.1.

00:08:39.392 --> 00:08:42.879
If you don't hear anything else I've ever said, hear this.

00:08:44.164 --> 00:08:48.356
Jesus values souls more than he values your comfort or your possessions.

00:08:48.356 --> 00:08:52.333
Disruption is not always the enemy.

00:08:52.333 --> 00:08:56.215
Sometimes it's the hand of God setting somebody else free.

00:08:56.215 --> 00:09:02.432
And if you hold too tightly to the temporary, you're going to miss the eternal.

00:09:02.432 --> 00:09:11.294
In the end times, we have to be willing to let go of anything that keeps us from following Jesus fully.

00:09:11.294 --> 00:09:16.769
So let me ask you this what are your pigs?

00:09:16.769 --> 00:09:22.131
Identify them, lay them down before God.

00:09:22.131 --> 00:09:39.015
Ask him to remove any idol from your heart, even if it costs you, because if you cling to the temporary, you will be shaken, but if you cling to Jesus, you will stand.

00:09:39.015 --> 00:09:43.471
Pray with me, lord.

00:09:43.471 --> 00:09:45.839
God, I surrender everything to you today.

00:09:45.839 --> 00:09:56.818
If there's anything I'm holding on to tightly, something I'm holding on to tightly, reveal it and help me let it go.

00:09:56.818 --> 00:10:04.251
I declare that you are more important than my security, my plans or my possessions.

00:10:04.251 --> 00:10:06.294
Strengthen me, god.

00:10:06.294 --> 00:10:12.812
Strengthen me to stand when the shaking comes and give me eyes to see your hand, even in loss.

00:10:12.812 --> 00:10:17.097
In Jesus' name, I pray Amen.

00:10:17.097 --> 00:10:23.688
Do not beg Jesus to leave because his presence disrupts your comfort.

00:10:23.688 --> 00:10:27.936
Worship him even when your herd is gone.

00:10:27.936 --> 00:10:31.267
Trust that he sees the bigger picture.

00:10:31.267 --> 00:10:37.458
The herd may run off the cliff, but freedom is on the other side.
